For the good forks La Locanda di Montisi has an agreement with some of the most popular restaurants in the area where you can eat typical Tuscan products: pici with meat sauce, Tuscan crostini, ribollita, tomato soup, the inevitable Florentine steak of real Chianina PDO and so on. For lovers of good wine it will be possible to organize guided tours and tastings at Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Montepulciano DOCG, Orcia DOC wine or suggest wineries to visit in the historic centers of Montalcino and Montepulciano. It will also be possible to taste DOP extra-virgin olive oil from the various local producers as well as Pecorino di Pienza PDO. For those wishing to try their hand at a Tuscan cooking course, it will be possible to organize cooking classes with an expert chef on request, as well as to try (in season) the truffles of the Crete Senese in our countryside.

PIENZA

Pienza is an Italian town of 2 091 inhabitants in the province of Siena in Tuscany. It is probably the most renowned and most important artistic center of the whole Val d’Orcia. It is not far from the Cassia national road and the other two important centers of the valley, San Quirico d’Orcia and Castiglione d’Orcia. The historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.

MONTEPULCIANO

Montepulciano is an Italian town of 14 003 inhabitants [3] of the province of Siena in Tuscany. The municipality is located 605 meters above sea level, between the Valdichiana and the Val d’Orcia. Of ancient and long history, Montepulciano has origins from the Etruscan people from the 4th century BC. It also has notoriety for the wealth of excellent vineyards, from which we obtain the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG.

MONTALCINO

Montalcino is an Italian town of 5 920 inhabitants in the province of Siena in Tuscany. It is a place known for the production of Brunello wine. It is located in the north-west area of Mount Amiata, at the end of the Val d’Orcia, on the administrative border with the province of Grosseto.

ABBAZIA di SANT’ANTIMO

The abbey of Sant’Antimo is a monastic complex in Olivetano located near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, within the municipality of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. It is one of the most important architectures of Romanesque.

SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA

San Quirico d’Orcia is an Italian town of 2 672 inhabitants called Sanquirichesi [2] of the province of Siena in Tuscany.

In the Vignoni district there is an ancient castle, Vignoni Castle, almost uninhabited, former residence of the Salimbeni family in the 12th century, and later of the Amerighi family from the 14th century. It has a medieval tower cut off, a restored Romanesque church (inside there was a Giambologna crucifix, now kept in the museum of Montalcino, and a baptismal font from the XV century, now at the Collegiate Church of San Quirico) and, next to the church, the building (rebuilt in the early nineties) of the fifteenth century Palazzo degli Amerighi, in which the conspiracy against the Spanish oppressors of Siena (1555-1559) was ordered.
